If my kids see snow, they automatically think of hot chocolate.

We woke up to snow this morning and we had the best day. Not being able to leave our driveway to go to work our to the programs of the children we were bound to stay at home. I know! Poor souls, right!

Well, I guess, not being able to leave our driveway kept us safe. The roads were slick and we heard of many accidents happen. I guess the school district was surprised by the snow, because they didn’t call for a late start or a snow day. Anyway, we did.

So my boys started cleaning the driveway.

After that they played some games, before heading outside again to clean some more. And then they decided to go sledding.

After a day in the snow, hot chocolate seems like the logic choice. So we decided to make some.

Hot Chocolate with Vanilla

This is a new recipe we actually created today and everybody asked for more! Yes, even dad! Our 6-year old was in charge of preparing the hot chocolate and serving it out.

Preparation:

If you don’t have a soup button follow the instructions below.

  1. Add all the ingredients into the Vitamix container and secure the lid.
  2. Place it on the Vitamix, select the first speed. Start your machine and slowly increase to the highest speed. Run on the highest speed for 6 minutes. This speed will make the liquid warm and you will end up having hot chocolate.
  3. Pour in mugs or glasses and serve.

If you don’t have a Vitamix you can:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a pot and slowly bring it to a simmer. Let it simmer until it is hot.
  2. Whisk it, to create a foamy layer.
  3. Pour in mugs or glasses and serve.

Enjoy your hot chocolate!
